A.I don't know if your job is for the interior or exterior, but we've used Premiere Painting in our Potomac home and love their work! A.Most contractors I have dealt with (which isn't many admittedly, and none of them were painters) have requested 25-30% of the total estimate before beginning work. Obviously, you should have a contract signed by both of you outlining the work to be done, the payment schedule, and the time line of work (allowing for inclement weather, etc).
Personally, as a home owner, I would not pay a painter more than 25% before the project started and not more than 50% before it was completely finished.
1.00Painting the exterior mobile home. Can I paint the outside of a metal trailer with flat exterior paint?

A.I wouldn't use flat paint especially outside ,you need gloss because when it rains the water will just slide off the trailer. If you use flat it will absorb the water.
1.00How can the faded color on vinyal shutters (exterior) be restored?
Q.The exterior shutters on the house are faded, due to weather. They are only 4 years old. I would like to freshen up the color, without painting if possible.
A.I think painting will be your only real option. Once the color is damaged it can't really be brought out again. Vinyl can be sanded lightly, and buffed to help restore the color, but most shutters have a faux wood grain texture that will also show damage and cannot be repaired. I think the best option is to take them down, LIGHTLY sand them to clean them up, wipe down with water or alcohol and paint with canned spray paint. Krylon FUSION paints are designed for plastics and vinyls and I have had good experience using them.
